Subject: Call for Nominations for Officers and Awards
To: Members of the American Society of Animal Science

Every member has the opportunity and responsibility to select officers for the Society. Please take time to submit nominations for President-Elect and for Directors-at-Large (three are to be elected) on the form enclosed.

Please consider nominating colleagues for appropriate ASAS awards. This is an important responsibility of all members. The list of awards to be presented at the ASAS Annual Meeting in Denver is attached.

DEADLINE: All nominations must be POSTMARKED no later than February 1, 1998.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please visit the ASAS Web Site on the World Wide Web (http://www.asas.uiuc.edu) for the latest version of General Rules and Regulations for ASAS Awards. Nominators are encouraged to review the instructions carefully and to follow the guidelines for the respective nominations to avoid having materials returned and rejected.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1. Three copies of the enclosed Awards Nomination Form. One copy of the form will be returned as acknowledgment of receipt of the dossier by the President- Elect's office.
  2. Six copies of nomination materials.
    1. Biography of the nominee should not exceed one typed page, double spaced.
    2. Copies of publications should not be included. List publications (if requested in the Rules and Regulations for Awards) beginning with the first and ending with the most current for the time period specified for the award. Group the publications into the following categories: (1) Refereed Journal Articles and (2) Non- Refereed Papers.
    3. Summary statements of the work on which the nomination is based should not exceed two typed pages.
    4. Dossiers should be stapled, but without covers.
    5. One 250-word citation for publication in the Journal of Animal Science and one 150-word citation to be read at the awards ceremony.
    6. Nominators should keep the original copy of the dossier. Those sent will not be returned.
