Creating an enduring U.S. dairy production sector depends on addressing various economic, environmental, and social issues facing the industry today. Organizations and individuals engage with these challenges and opportunities in U.S. dairy production – each biased by their own perspective. Some emphasize global food security and unprecedented growth in global demand for dairy products. Others call for freezing the environmental footprint of agriculture and preserving wildlife habitat. Yet still, others highlight the need for upholding the rights of those involved in producing and consuming dairy products and the well-being of animals.
Regardless of the viewpoint taken success for the U.S. dairy sector hinges on its ability to abate threats and capitalize opportunities in a new globalized context. Sustainability is not poorly-defined. Sustainability is integrative and interdisciplinary in nature.
The goals for this Discover Conference are to provide a cross-section of key discipline experts and a venue for discussion and integration of these issues across animal physiology, nutrition, welfare, climate change, economics and marketing, social issues, and policy among others. Continued success of the U.S. dairy production sector requires engagement in topics that usually do not surface in dairy production meetings, but are essential for improving the U.S. dairy industry and becoming more sustainable and vital for generations to come.
Registration postmarked by October 2, 2015 is $375.00 for ADSA-ASAS-ARPAS members and $425.00 for non-members, which includes sessions and most meals. After October 2, the registration fee will be $475.00 member/$525.00 non-member, and will be accepted on an availability basis.
ADSA Discover Conferences offers discounted Graduate Student Registrations for each conference. The Graduate Student rate is $195 and is available to 10 students with verification from their graduate advisor on a first come, first served basis. To register, click the Online Registration link.

All participants are responsible for making their own housing reservations. The Conference will be held at Eaglewood Resort and Spa in Itasca, Illinois.
The 106-acre Eaglewood Resort & Spa is strategically located in northwest Chicagoland, just a 35-minute drive from downtown Chicago, and 21 minutes west of O’Hare International Airport.
