Champaign, IL (May 9, 2022)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Joao Costa as the 2022 recipient of the Lallemand Forward Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Lallemand Forward Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition was created to stimulate and recognize outstanding achievement in research, teaching, extension, or industry in applied dairy nutrition by scientists during the first 10 postgraduation years of their professional career.

Joao Costa has been an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky since 2017. Costa obtained his bachelor’s degree (2009) and MSc degree (2012) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and his PhD (2015) from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research group investigates the effects of preweaning nutrition and environment on the early development of dairy calves, the feeding behavior of dairy cattle, and the use of precision technologies to make nutritional decisions. Costa has authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 100 abstracts for scientific conferences and presented 52 national and international invited talks in 13 countries.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Lallemand Animal Nutrition present Joao Costa with the 2022 Lallemand Forward Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition.
