JOHN LUCEY NAMED FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN DAIRY SCIENCE ASSOCIATION®

Champaign, IL (May 9, 2022)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that John Lucey has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Sunday, June 20, 2022, during the opening session at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

The purpose of the ADSA Fellow Award is to recognize Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.

John Lucey earned his PhD at University College Cork (Ireland) in 1992. He conducted research in Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand before starting at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1999, being promoted to full professor in 2009. He was named director of the Center for Dairy Research in 2011 and the Owen R. Fennema Professor in Food Chemistry in 2021. He teaches and conducts research on the chemistry and molecular basis for the functionality of dairy products. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers, 66 in the Journal of Dairy Science. He has advised over 40 graduate students.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents John Lucey with the 2022 Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association distinction.
