Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Jacquelyn Boerman as the 2025 recipient of the Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award was created to recognize outstanding research by young dairy production scientists during the first 10 years of their professional career. The winner must have demonstrated outstanding research in dairy cattle production areas within five years immediately prior to the year of the award, published original research work, and been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years. The winner must be 39 years old or younger and have completed their PhD no earlier than 10 years prior to the year of the award.
Jackie Boerman grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York and spent the early part of her career working as a dairy specialist in the Midwest. These experiences working with dairy producers and nutritionists now inform her work as an associate professor of animal sciences at Purdue University. Boerman holds a three-way appointment in research, teaching, and extension focused on dairy nutrition and management. Her research focuses on nutrition and management of dairy cattle with an emphasis on tissue mobilization in the transition period, whole-farm data integration, and the use of video analytics on dairy farms. Boerman’s body of work is recognized by academia and the dairy and feed industries, as evidenced by invitations to speak at regional, national, and international meetings and conferences as well as company in-house training programs.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA and Cargill Animal Nutrition present Jacquelyn Boerman with the 2025 Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award.
