Rupert Bruckmaier named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association®

Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that Rupert Bruckmaier has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards program at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.

The purpose of the ADSA Fellow distinction is to recognize Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.

Rupert Bruckmaier has been an active member of ADSA since the 1990s. He contributed regularly to ADSA Annual Meetings by presenting his research results and supporting the organization of lactation biology symposia. He served as a section editor of the Journal of Dairy Science for several years. His scientific work focused on various topics related to the physiology and endocrinology of lactating ruminants. Major research areas have been the regulation of oxytocin release and milk ejection at milking and suckling, the mammary immune response to different pathogen types, and interactions between metabolic load and the immune system during mastitis.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA presents Rupert Bruckmaier with the 2025 Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association distinction.
