Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Brittney Davidson as the 2025 recipient of the National Milk Producers Federation: Richard M. Hoyt Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.
The National Milk Producers Federation: Richard M. Hoyt Award was created to recognize research efforts with direct application to the problems of the US dairy industry. The winner must be enrolled in or have completed within the preceding year a program leading to an advanced degree in a department of dairy science, dairy production, dairy processing, or food science, or a department with a similar curriculum in an accredited college or university in the United States, and have accomplished research with direct application to problems of the US dairy industry. If the winner’s degree work is completed, they must be employed by a US company. The winner must also be a member of ADSA or the Student Affiliate Division of ADSA.
Brittney Davidson is originally from Melbourne, Florida, where her first real experience with animals was in a high school ecology class. With the hopes of going to veterinary school, she studied animal sciences at the University of Florida and received her BS in 2018. After finding a passion for dairy cows and research, she obtained her MS in animal sciences in 2020 under the co-advisement of Jimena Laporta and Geoffrey Dahl. Davidson most recently earned her PhD in dairy science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, investigating the multigenerational effects of heat stress, under the advisement of Jimena Laporta.
It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the National Milk Producers Federation Dairy Scholarship Fund present Brittney Davidson with the 2025 National Milk Producers Federation: Richard M. Hoyt Award.
