Prabin Lamichhane receives the ADSA® Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Foods

Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA) is pleased to announce Prabin Lamichhane as the 2025 recipient of the ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Foods. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.

The ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Foods was created to recognize a young scholar from the Dairy Foods division and their potential in research and educational leadership and to identify critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. Special requirements include 10 years or less since earning a final academic degree, current active membership in ADSA, exemplary research or educational programs (instruction, extension, or industry), and potential for future leadership. The winner must deliver a symposium-type address at the ADSA Annual Meeting that should focus on critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. A written manuscript of the lecture must be submitted to Journal of Dairy Science®, which will then be reviewed and published in an appropriate section of the journal.

Prabin Lamichhane is a research officer at Teagasc, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority of Ireland. He earned his food science and technology PhD from University College Cork (Ireland, 2020), his MS from Ghent University (Belgium, 2015), and his BS from the Central Campus of Technology, Tribhuvan University (Nepal, 2011). His research interests include the impact of primary production and processing factors on the quality, consistency, shelf-life, and safety of cheese and other fermented dairy products; structure–function relationships in fermented dairy products; and sustainable approaches to cheese processing, maturation, and distribution.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the ADSA Foundation present Prabin Lamichhane with the 2025 ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Foods.
