Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA) is pleased to announce Emily Miller-Cushon as the 2025 recipient of the ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.

The ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production was created to recognize a young scholar from the Production division and their potential in research and educational leadership and to identify critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. Special requirements include 10 years or less since receiving a final academic degree, current active membership in ADSA, exemplary research or educational programs (instruction, extension, or industry), and potential for future leadership. The winner must deliver a symposium-type address at the ADSA Annual Meeting that should focus on critical issues affecting the future of the dairy industry. A written manuscript of the lecture must be submitted to the Journal of Dairy Science®, which will then be reviewed and published in an appropriate section of the journal.

Emily Miller-Cushon earned her PhD at the University of Guelph and is an associate professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida. She leads research and teaching programs in animal behavior and welfare. Her research focuses on applying an understanding of behavior to assess and improve animal welfare. Specifically, she is recognized for her work investigating the effects of rearing practices on the behavioral development and welfare of dairy calves. She teaches courses in animal behavior and welfare and mentors both undergraduate and graduate students in research.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the ADSA Foundation present Emily Miller-Cushon with the 2025 ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Production.
