Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Irene Nielsen as the 2025 recipient of the Genevieve Christen Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Genevieve Christen Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award was created to recognize distinguished undergraduates who have demonstrated leadership ability, academic achievement, involvement in the industry, and participation in the ADSA Undergraduate Student Division (USD) and local club activities.
Irene Nielsen graduated from Iowa State University in May 2025 with degrees in dairy science, agricultural communications, and international agriculture. Her involvement in 4-H and other dairy-related activities led her to Iowa State University, where she became heavily involved in their dairy programs. Nielsen was involved in the Dairy Science Club in multiple executive and committee roles and participated in various club events. In addition, she was a member of the Iowa State University Dairy Judging and Dairy Challenge teams. Nielsen served as the 2024 to 2025 ADSA Undergraduate Student Division’s first vice president.
