Champaign, IL (May 12, 2025)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that Pamela Ruegg has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the awards program at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.
The purpose of the ADSA Fellow Award is to recognize Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.
Pamela Ruegg holds the David J. Ellis Chair in Antimicrobial Resistance and Large Animal Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU). She previously served as chair of the Department of Animal Science at MSU and spent 20 years as a professor and extension milk quality specialist in the Department of Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her professional work is focused on improving dairy animal health and farm sustainability. Her research is focused on ensuring responsible antibiotic usage on dairy farms by identifying animal, environmental, and pathogen factors that can be manipulated to reduce disease risk and research to provide evidence-based recommendations for mastitis treatments.
