Ermias Kebreab named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association

Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that Ermias Kebreab has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The purpose of the ADSA Fellow Award is to recognize Dairy Foods Division and Production Division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.

Ermias Kebreab is an internationally recognized leader in dairy science whose research has transformed the understanding and mitigation of enteric methane emissions while advancing sustainable dairy production worldwide. His pioneering work on antimethanogenic feed additives, nutrition modeling, and life-cycle assessment has directly influenced industry practices and climate policy. A professor and the Sesnon Endowed Chair at the University of California, Davis, he has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to global frameworks including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the Food and Agriculture Organization guidelines. Through science-driven innovation, policy engagement, and mentorship, Kebreab has helped position dairy systems as part of the solution to climate change.
