Paul Kononoff receives the American Feed Industry Association Award

Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Paul Kononoff as the 2026 recipient of the American Feed Industry Association Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The American Feed Industry Association Award was created to stimulate research in dairy cattle nutrition. The award recognizes an individual who has made a worthy contribution to research of dairy cattle nutrition within the 10 years immediately prior to the year of the award. The winner must have published original research work; conducted research at a public institution, hospital, or similar institution; and been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years.

Paul Kononoff is a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, who earned degrees in animal science from the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University. He has served on the faculty at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in research and extension since 2005. His work focuses on feeding lactating dairy cows, including forage quality, particle size, feed characterization, byproduct use, and energy metabolism. He co-invented the Penn State Particle Separator and applies indirect calorimetry to study methane and energy use. He served six years as editor in chief of the Journal of Dairy Science and was a member of the committee for the 2021 National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine publication of Nutrient Requirements for Dairy Cattle.

It is with great pleasure that ADSA and the American Feed Industry Association Inc. present Paul Kononoff with the 2026 American Feed Industry Association Award.
