Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®) is pleased to announce that Carmen Moraru has been named Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The purpose of the ADSA Fellow Award is to recognize Dairy Foods Division and Production Division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more. The recipients must have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry, to a dairy-related discipline, or to ADSA; in addition, the recipients must be and have been a member of ADSA for a minimum of 20 years.
Carmen I. Moraru is internationally recognized for her important contributions to dairy processing, food -safety engineering, and the advancement of dairy science through research, teaching, and professional service. Over a career spanning more than three decades, she has demonstrated sustained excellence and leadership in dairy foods research and education. Beginning her career as a food technologist in a dairy company and then as a faculty member in Romania, before rising to the level of Professor of Food Science at Cornell University, Moraru has consistently bridged fundamental discovery with industry relevance. Her roles as Chair of the Cornell Department of Food Science (2019–2024) and Director of the Northeast Dairy Foods Research Center (2024–2025) demonstrate her ability to lead complex academic and industry‑engaged programs that strengthen the dairy sector.
