Mauricio Oliveira receives the Alltech Inc. Graduate Student Paper Publication Award

Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce Mauricio Oliveira as the 2026 recipient of the Alltech Inc. Graduate Student Paper Publication Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Alltech Inc. Graduate Student Paper Publication Award recognizes a graduate student, who is also a member of ADSA, who has published a paper in the Journal of Dairy Science® (JDS®). The manuscript must be based on research conducted by the student before his or her final oral examination and must list the student as senior author. The manuscript must be submitted to JDS within six months after completion of the final oral examination and then be accepted to and/or published in JDS during the calendar year preceding the award.

Mauricio X. S. Oliveira, PhD, MS, recently completed his doctorate in animal sciences at The Ohio State University in the Mastitis and Mammary Physiology Laboratory under Benjamin Enger. He earned a BS in animal sciences from the Federal University of Bahia and completed two MS degrees at the University of São Paulo and Mississippi State University. His research integrates mastitis biology, immunology, and mammary physiology, with an emphasis on how gestational intramammary infections influence mammary gland development and future milk-producing capacity in dairy cattle. He currently serves as a technical associate in dairy and animal welfare at SCS Global Services.
