David Renaud receives the Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award

Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce David Renaud will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist Award was created to recognize outstanding research by young dairy production scientists during the first 10 years of their professional career. The winner must have demonstrated outstanding research in dairy cattle production areas within five years immediately prior to the year of the award, published original research work, and been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years. The winner must be 39 years old or younger and have completed their PhD no earlier than 10 years prior to the year of the award.

David Renaud, BSc, DVM, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph, with a research focus on improving dairy calf health and welfare. He received his DVM and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Guelph. His research examines colostrum management, disease prevention, transportation stress, and antimicrobial stewardship in dairy calves, with direct relevance to on-farm decision-making. Renaud has authored more than 180 peer-reviewed publications, and his work has contributed to evidence-based management practices and informed industry and policy discussions. He remains actively engaged with dairy producers as a practicing veterinarian in Ontario, Canada.
