David Wilson receives the DeLaval Dairy Extension Award

Champaign, IL (May 8, 2026)—The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) is pleased to announce David Wilson as the 2026 recipient of the DeLaval Dairy Extension Award. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The DeLaval Dairy Extension Award was created to recognize outstanding achievements in dairy extension. The winner must have made a valuable and noteworthy contribution to the dairy industry through dairy extension in the broad areas of production, manufacturing, marketing, and youth work; be active in dairy extension when nominated and have at least 10 years of dairy extension work with an educational or public institution; and have been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years.

David J. Wilson earned a DVM from The Ohio State University, an MS from Michigan State University, and a PhD from Cornell University. He is the extension dairy veterinarian for Utah and has been a professor at Utah State University since 2006. His extension and research work has primarily focused on mastitis and milk quality, but also includes stray voltage, mycoplasma, other diseases, and abnormalities of cloned ruminants. He has instructed students in veterinary medicine, dairy science, and youth programs, and has provided presentations and outreach to dairy producers, veterinarians, youth groups, and allied industry throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, Central America, Europe, and Asia.
