Journal of Dairy Science® is moving to open access in January 2022

Philadelphia, November 10, 2021 – The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA) and Elsevier are delighted to announce that Journal of Dairy Science® (JDS) will become a gold open access (OA) journal with the January 2022 issue.

This means that authors who publish in JDS can make their work immediately, permanently, and freely accessible worldwide. JDS authors will pay an article publishing charge (APC), have a choice of license options, and retain copyright to their published work. This change is very beneficial to authors because OA provides readers free and immediate access to scientific research and enables our authors greater opportunity to disseminate their work to the benefit of the academic community and the dairy industry.

The APC for ADSA’s professional members will be $1000 for papers submitted for peer review through January 31, 2022. Non-members who submit a paper through November 11, 2021, will also be granted a transition APC of $1000 to publish. To learn about becoming an ADSA member and receiving a discounted APC, visit https://www.adsa.org/Membership/Benefits-of-Membership. The full APC rate for non-members will be $3500.

For papers submitted February 1, 2022, or later, the APC for ADSA professional members will be $1600.

To assist authors, readers, and ADSA members with questions they might have, please see our FAQ. If there are questions the FAQ has not answered, please contact us at jds@adsa.org.
