Call for Papers: Pasture-Based Dairy Production Systems
JDS Communications invites submissions for a special issue: Pasture-Based Dairy Production Systems.
The goal of this special issue is to provide a comprehensive and holistic outlook of pasture-based dairy production, emphasizing the unique and important role this system plays in the global dairy industry.
We are specifically interested in short communications, technical notes, and review articles that address the following topics:
- Challenges and opportunities for processing milk from pasture-based systems
- Reproduction—first time, every time
- Transition cow management: preparing the cow for the next lactation
- The economics of supplementary feeding in grazing systems
- Virtual fencing for stock pasture management
- Using advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve grazing management and on-farm productivity
- Calf and youngstock rearing for pasture-based systems
An official journal of the American Dairy Science Association®, JDS Communications publishes narrowly focused, hypothesis-driven original research studies designed to answer a specific question on the production or processing of milk or milk products intended for human consumption. In addition to short research articles, JDS Communications publishes mini-reviews—unsolicited, concise review papers. Research published in this journal is broadly divided into the production of milk from food animals (nutrition, physiology, health, genetics, and management) and the processing of milk for human consumption (dairy foods). JDS Communications aims for rapid turnaround and a short time to publication.
