We are very excited to have several events planned for graduate students at this year's Annual Meeting. Some of these events are annual traditions for our membership, while others are new to our line-up. We're excited to offer events that allow us to advance or skills and career goals while networking with other graduate students and industry professionals.

Writing in the Dairy Sciences: A Graduate Student's Guide to Publishing in Journals and Beyond

All graduate students are encouraged to attend this valuable writing enhancement workshop. Highly published authors and guest speakers will share insight, tips and suggestions for getting research published and recognized, even beyond scientific audiences! Topics will include the manuscript review process, how to write an effective response to revisions, ways to get your manuscript recognized after it is published, and ways to improve your writing.

Kick off the week with a fun night of entertainment and networking with your fellow dairy science graduate students at Scruffy City. Located just a short walk from the Convention Center, join us to enjoy trivia night, free drinks, and one of the best rooftop views of downtown Knoxville! Use this opportunity to meet other graduate students you can network with throughout the week during the Annual Meeting.

ADSA Graduate Student Division Career Insights Luncheon

Ticket Price: $10

Join us for lunch and interact with a diverse panel of academia and industry professionals! Be prepared to question panel members about their experience moving from graduate school to the professional world. This lunch is intended to give attendees an informal environment in which to inquire about each professional’s personal journey and the challenges they encountered along the way. A $10 registration fee is required and a boxed lunch is included.

ADSA Graduate Student Division Three-Minute Thesis Challenge

Tuesday, June 26, Convention Center

ADSA graduate students are encouraged to participate in the return of the Three-Minute Thesis Challenge. This event will test the competitor’s ability to convey their research in a way that is understandable to all, in three minutes or less! Emphasis will be placed on the ability to explain research to a lay audience. Entry details will be released prior to the Annual Meeting, and competition will be limited to ten students selected by a panel of judges based upon strength of CV and a 100 word interpretive summary. All ADSA members are invited to attend the Challenge and watch students compete for cash prizes and present their research in a fun and exciting way!

ADSA Graduate Student Division Poster Session Mixer: An Event for Students, Industry, and Academia

Tuesday, June 26, Convention Center

Sign up to attend the first ever Graduate Student Division Poster Session Mixer where graduate students can mingle with industry professionals and faculty members looking for employees. Graduate students will be given an opportunity to present e-poster presentations as well as network with industry and academia professionals in a more related setting. Students are encouraged to bring paper copies of their poster and resume, as well as business cards. Virtual presentations are limited to the first 100 students to register, but all graduate students are welcome to attend. Professional ADSA members looking to hire graduate students or discuss research are encouraged to attend the mixer as a way to interact with graduate students outside of the typical poster session atmosphere. Light refreshments will be provided by Daisy Brand.
