ADSA GRADUATE STUDENT EDUCATIONAL SESSION: HOW TO REVIEW A SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE

This hands-on workshop, helmed by Editors in Chief Jessica McArt (JDS Communications) and Laura Hernandez (Journal of Dairy Science), will tackle the topic of how to successfully review a scientific article.

McArt and Hernandez—along with current JDS Senior Editors Nicole Martin and Stephen LeBlanc and Editorial Board Member Jennifer Van Os—will share their expert guidance on the peer-review process, what makes a review great, and how your feedback can help shape the scientific record.

ADSA GRADUATE STUDENT THREE-MINUTE THESIS (3MT) CHALLENGE

Can you convey your research in a way that is understandable, fun, and exciting in three minutes or less? A highlight of every Annual Meeting, the 3MT Challenge puts your storytelling skills to the test. Join as a contestant and compete for cash prizes (and serious bragging rights), or come to watch and cheer on your fellow students! 

2026 Submission Rules

This year’s competition will be limited to 10 ADSA graduate student members chosen by a panel of 3 judges. 

To enter this competition, simply submit the following documents in .pdf and .mp4 format to this Dropbox location no later than Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT:

  1. A one-page copy of your CV
  2. A 300-word summary of your research
  3. A one-minute video pitch of your research

The panel of judges will review all applications and select only 10 students to compete by Monday, June 1. The competition will be in person during the ADSA 2026 Annual Meeting.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the final three students (first place: $300; second place: $200; third place: $100). Additionally, the presentation that receives the most votes will receive the “People’s Choice” award ($100). Award recipients will be recognized at the ADSA awards ceremony.

GSD CAREER INSIGHTS NETWORKING LUNCHEON

Grads, plan to join us for lunch and networking with a diverse assortment of academia and industry professionals!

With a roundtable format, you will have the opportunity to connect with professional members about their experiences moving from graduate school to the professional world. This lunch is intended to give students an informal environment in which to inquire about each professional’s personal journey and the challenges they encountered along the way.

ADSA will never contact you directly about booking a hotel room. If someone calls you about booking a hotel room, they are not from ADSA and are not a legitimate source for booking your hotel reservation. To avoid problems or potential loss of funds, book your reservation online or call 414-935-5940. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

To be eligible for a refund of meeting registration fees, requests must be received in writing. If the request is received on or before June 1, 2026, the registrant will receive a 90% refund. If the request is received after June 1, 2026, NO REFUND will be issued.

The cancellation/refund request deadline applies only to meeting registration fees. No refunds will be issued for ticketed events that are not cancelled by ADSA. Ticketed events may be cancelled by ADSA if minimum attendance requirements are not met. Should ADSA cancel a ticketed event, refunds will be issued for cancelled ticketed events.

All approved refunds will be issued after the meeting in the form in which payment was made.
